Urgent requests for care are regularly satisfied by Care At Home Services. Our 24/7 call centre staff is ready to listen and act quickly when there is an immediate need for care. On the other hand, if you prefer to take your time making a decision, we are happy to accommodate. You are in charge and we are at your service.

Care At Home Services collaborates regularly with health authorities on behalf of our patients to ensure you receive the best of care. In many cases, we share patient care allowing your health authority to provide as much publicly funded care as possible and we supplement this care to ensure your complete comfort and safety. In many instances, we advocate for our patients to receive health authority funded care and we work closely with health authority staff by attending ‘all care provider’ meetings.

We are open from Monday – Sunday. Our office hours are 6 am to 9 pm PST & 7 am-10 pm MST.  All patients have access to 24/7 call centre support 365 days per week

Yes. Our companion care is designed to provide you or your loved one with company when they need it. Our friendly companions can visit and engage with patients to brighten up their day, whether you need someone to listen, someone to play board games with, or you want to go out and have fun.

We understand many people prefer to die in the comfort of familiar surroundings and surrounded by family members and friends. Our interdisciplinary team of medical and palliative professionals are experienced at stepping in to allow this to happen. From ensuring hospital bed and other equipment is in place to make you or your loved one comfortable to discreetly answering questions and managing pain. If you or your loved-one is no longer comfortable living alone and would like someone to stay with them 24/7, we are ready to step in. Based on our assessment of your needs, we’ll hand-pick caregivers and medical professionals to take care of all your needs around the clock. This may include a combination of the following coverage depending on your needs:

Multiple Shifts: A combination of staffing shifts ranging from three eight-hour shifts per day to any other variation to ensure qualified staff are on hand to care for you.

Live-In Service: One staff member (HCA or nurse depending on your needs) present in your home for 20 hours per day available to assist and provide care for up to 10 hour per day. Your caregiver will sleep and eat at your home (requires a private bedroom in your home). BC Live-In labour standards and regulations require that a live-in caregiver have four consecutive hours free in every 24 hours of work. To provide full 24-hour coverage, we can supplement our Live-In Service care with four-hours of service from a second caregiver.

Those caring full-time or part-time for a loved one are a risk of suffering caregiver burnout. That’s why it’s critical to get regular breaks. We are ready to step in and provide respite for you on a short-term or long-term basis. Learn more about our respite services.

Yes. Our home from hospital service is designed especially for this. We can help you prepare for your hospital stay, drive you to and from the hospital, and be there for you when you get home to take care of you until you are back on your feet. Our services include, but are not limited to, home support (e.g., house-keeping, laundry, food preparation, companionship, outing, and errands) and personal care at home (e.g., bathing, grooming, medication management). A nurse or qualified medical professional will be required for specialized care at home (checking vital signs, managing pain, and chronic conditions).

Service Fees

Care At Home Services offers a wide range of services from home support to specialized care for those suffering chronic conditions. For this reason, the cost of our services vary depending on the required qualifications of your caregiver. In most cases our fees are based on an hourly rate, starting as low as $31 per hour. We offer a complimentary visit to your home to meet you and your loved ones and to assess your precise needs. At that time, we can provide you with an estimate of costs, and there is no obligation to you.

We request credit card authorization prior to commencement of service, and we issue monthly invoices for services rendered. Our terms are net seven (7) days and you may choose to have your charges billed to your credit card on file or send a cheque.

Our BC Medical Services Plan covers essential support for residents of BC needing care at home. Our services are designed to supplement what our public service offers. In fact, we often work hand-in-hand with our health authorities to ensure our clients receive the best of care; we advocate for publicly funded care at home for our clients and fill the gaps to ensure the best-in-class care.

The minimum home care service package is three-hours. This does not include travel to and from your home; there is no charge for this. In the case of a medical specialists is visiting your home, e.g., a physician, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist, the visit may be shorter than three-hours based on your needs.

When assessing your needs at our complimentary home visit, we’ll determine the qualification requirements suited to your needs.
