How to Set Up Alberta Client Direct Care (CDC) with Care At Home Services

Step 1: Contact Alberta Health Services (AHS) for an Assessment
  • Call AHS Continuing Care Access at 1-855-371-4122 or contact your local AHS office.
  • Request an in-home assessment for home care services.

 
Step 2: Request the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) Option
  • If eligible, ask to enroll in Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI), Alberta’s version of Client Direct Care.

 
Step 3: Register with Alberta BlueCross
  • You will receive a monthly funding approval based on assessed care hours.
  • Funds are not given directly to you but are paid to the service provider once invoices are submitted and approved.

 
Step 4: Contact Care At Home Services
  • Ask to set up care at the AHS-approved funding rate, so you don’t pay out of pocket.
  • Care At Home will help you develop a personalized care plan based on your needs.

 
Step 5: Sign a Service Agreement
  • Sign an agreement with Care At Home Services, outlining care hours and services within your funded budget.

 
Step 6: Begin Services and Maintain Communication
  • Care services will begin as scheduled.
  • Care At Home Services will handle billing and submission of hours to Alberta Blue Cross.
  • You may receive monthly statements for transparency, but you won’t be charged personally as long as services stay within your funding limit.
