DR. DAVID HUNTPhysician and Pain Management Consultant
Dr. David Hunt has been involved exclusively in the practice of pain medicine for more than 25 years. Dr. Hunt graduated from the University of British Columbia and completed postgraduate training in intensive care and surgery in Toronto Western Hospital.
Dr. Hunt is currently working as a pain specialist at the Pain Centre at St. Pauls’ Hospital and previously worked with the Complex Pain Service (in patient) Program at Vancouver General Hospital, and the Complex Chronic Diseases Program at BC Women’s Hospital. Prior to specializing in pain medicine, Dr. Hunt practiced emergency medicine at Vancouver General Hospital for 17 years.
DR. SHAKEEL BHATTIConsultant and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
An accomplished and recognised leader in pharmacy practice and business, Dr. Shakeel Bhatti is a successful independent pharmacy owner with international experience covering Canada, United States and the United Kingdom. He has a distinguished track record in program management, business development, healthcare, and innovation. Dr. Bhatti is also an engaging public speaker, practised in Academia, Hospital and Institutional Pharmacy, and Community Pharmacy.
NARDIA BROWNClinical Lead
Nardia Brown is the Clinical Lead for Care At Home Services. As the Clinical Lead she manages the clinical service for community nurses and clients by ensuring quality care and best practice is maintain. Nardia has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 13 years. Her nursing experience ranges from acute care in a hospital setting where she worked as a float nurse on the surgical, medical and palliative units and on the regional acute spinal cord unit at VGH, to home and community care where she worked as a home care nurse, home health liaison, nursing supervisor and care manager for a long-term care residential facility. Nardia has spent the past 8 years of her nursing career in leadership and management both in the private and public health sector with her great passion for client center quality care.
Nardia wears her heart on her sleeve and has great passion for life and caring for others. In addition to her nursing career, Nardia is currently an active board member for a community foundation that provide financial assistant to Canadian charitable organizations that support LGBT refugees and Newcomers to live safely and be themselves in Canada.
CHRISTINA NASONurse Case Manager
Christina is a devoted mother of two boys, and dedicated health care professional in the field for over 14 years, starting with the desire to truly make a difference in health care. Being very passionate about taking care of others and making a difference in her patients’ lives, striving to make a difference in their quality of life is what matters most to her. Christina started off as a care aid to better understand the role and care directly involved with the caregivers, who give the quality of care to patients, and to whom she would eventually be supervising after becoming a nurse in 2010.
Christina has worked in various areas in her career, from 14 years of community care and hospital experience to over 5 years of teaching background for LPN and Heath care assistance, and managing a program for over 3 years at a college for LPNs and HCA. Christina has specialized in long term care nursing, critical care flight nurse, over 5 years’ management experience with Geriatrics, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Mental health, Acquired brain injury, Huntington’s disease, home support, community support, acute care, palliative care, and all levels of complex care and addictions.
TRACIE TOMLINNurse Case Manager
Tracie graduated with honours in 2003 and since then has spent the last 14 years working in a variety of different roles across Canada, with each one challenging her in new and different ways. These roles include working in the community, long term care and in surgery.
Tracie has advanced training in Palliative care and describes herself as being passionate about providing holistic palliative care; care that focuses on serving clients and their families as unique individuals with unique needs. Tracie also has advanced training from the United States in surgical anesthesia.
SUZETTE PENNERClinical Director
Suzette Penner has been in nursing for over 14 years, receiving the RN Diploma at Kwantlen University College and then acquiring her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria in 2005. In 2012 she obtained her Infection Prevention and Control Certificate at the University of British Columbia. Suzette has been part of the management team of Care At Home Services for over ten years. As Clinical Director she is responsible for overseeing all clinical services to ensure quality and consistency through educational development, training, and policy.
Suzette’s previous nursing experience includes five years at Langley Memorial Hospital where her primary focus was on geriatrics and acute medical. Suzette was the Wound Care Enhancement Nurse at Langley Memorial for one year. Other related nursing experience includes RN at Surrey Memorial Hospital Extended Care/ Acute Medical, Pediatric Peritoneal Dialysis and Psychiatric Residential Care. She has also spent one year teaching both theory and clinical for the resident care aide program at West Coast college in the Fraser Valley.
SUSAN SCOTT GABEFounder and Managing Director
Susan Scott Gabe has spent the last twenty-five years working at the forefront of patient services. A nursing leader in community geriatric services, Susan’s expertise spans the intersection of efficient delivery and effective compassionate care.
Susan has held leadership roles in numerous progressive health care organizations locally and nationally, in both the public and private sectors. As well, in her consulting role, Susan has provided expertise and guidance in planning, operations, accreditation, and proposal writing. A lifelong learner, she completed her RN at Vancouver General Hospital, her BSc in nursing at the University of British Columbia, and the Health Care Executive Leadership and Strategic Planning series at Queen’s University.
Susan went back to school at 51 years young and studied culinary arts in Vancouver, where she holds the record as the oldest student. Then in 2012 began her passion of studying the Anthropology of food in the Masters of Art program at Boston University.
RUBYLYN ENGSTROMOperations Manager
Rubylyn Engstrom, Operations Manager for Care At Home Services, has spent the last 6 years in a Senior Management position in private home health care. In her current role, Rubylyn leads and coordinates the scheduling activates for community clients and casual staffing for long term/assisted living facilities. Through face to face marketing, she has increased brand awareness and the benefits of private home health care and has helped clients navigate the health care system.
Rubylyn has a passion for creating great culture and was a senior manager for organization who was awarded BC’s top culture award. Rubylyn’s operations business experience includes the financial and telecommunication industry. Rubylyn has completed her BA at the University of Winnipeg. She has also successfully complete the Operational Leadership series at Queen’s University and Senior Negotiations at Harvard Business School.
YASSER BARSOUMFounder and Executive Vice President
After 15 years working for large multi-national companies, Yasser Barsoum arrived in Canada looking for a position in a dynamic and growing organization where he could make a significant difference. Hired by Art Forster as lead accountant and budget manager for a group of businesses with great promise, he knew very quickly he had arrived at the right place. These affiliated businesses had a solid hold in the support services industry and presented a huge growth opportunity. Over the past decade it has proven a progressive and exciting place to work and now employs over 3,000 people.
Yasser is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified General Accountant (CGA), and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B Comm). Before immigrating to Canada, Yasser worked for Heineken International in Holland as Associate Director, Accounts and Controls. Prior, he was Assistant Finance Manager at Orix Leasing and General Accountant at Hughes Inteq (Petroleum). Yasser began his career in 1991 with KPMG in the tax department.
